6K a year 21 hours ago 21 hours ago 21 hours ago Description Operating at the Learning Resource Center's circulation desk, this person works directly with students, faculty, staff and community patrons and performs circulation tasks using the automated circulation system (SirsiDynix-Workflows).
Clerical duties such as mail collection, record keeping of materials, answering the phone, archiving and fee deposits are other continuous duties.
Examples of Duties The LRC Circulation Technician's duties include assisting patrons with reference questions in person, by phone, or email, issuing library cards, fulfilling interlibrary loan requests, checking out/in laptops and hotspots, shelving books, faxing, answering the phone, copying, collecting fees, laminating, and circulating materials.
Other duties include managing overdue materials, journal and newspaper subscriptions, and daily mail.
Extensive knowledge and use of the automated circulation system or willingness to learn is necessary.
The person in this position keeps records for the LRC and gathers statistics for IEPA (Institutional Effectiveness Plan and Assessment), SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats), IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System), and SACSCOC (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges) reports.
Other duties include preparing weekly reports for fees collected and delivering deposits to the cashier's office.
Duties as needed include shelving materials, bulletin board decorating, special events display, participating in LRC activities, and assisting in the Electronic Resource Center Lab.
Minimum/Required Qualifications Required One year of post-secondary (college) education; IT, business, or Office Systems Technology.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Needs a working knowledge of Google Docs.
Good organizational and record keeping skills and filing; able to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
Must show a willingness to learn automated circulation system, SirsiDynix-Workflows and the Library of Congress shelving system.
Must be willing to learn ID badge software system (ID Works).
Preferred Experience in an educational or library setting.
